Who this pathway suits

For pilots pursuing commercial aviation, including PPL holders ready to progress. If you are starting with no flying experience, talk with us about the earlier training stages first. We assess your licence, logbook and pilot-in-command experience before planning the remaining CPL training.

Inside the course

What you work on

01

Commercial-standard handling

Refine aircraft handling, accuracy and preparation to commercial standards, with basic instrument flying and practical progress reviews.

02

Navigation and operational decisions

Develop cross-country navigation, flight planning and aircraft performance skills. Consider weather, operational options and the decisions that support a well-prepared flight.

03

Theory and flight test preparation

Connect theory study with practical flying, review your pilot-in-command experience and prepare for the assessments still required for your pathway.

What this prepares you for

After meeting the applicable medical, age, English, theory, flight experience and flight test requirements, a CPL enables private and commercial flying within its licence and aircraft privileges. Instrument and multi-engine qualifications are separate, and airline employment is not an automatic outcome.

How training is planned

A starting point, a practical plan, and regular conversations about your progress.

  1. 1

Bring your logbook and training records so our team can review your existing experience and intended commercial pathway.

  2. 2

Review the applicable medical, age, English, theory and flight experience requirements before agreeing on the training still needed.

  3. 3

Build a plan for ground preparation, flying skills and pilot-in-command experience, with instructor progress reviews.

  4. 4

Review readiness for theory and flight assessment, and discuss further ratings or operator requirements for the work you hope to pursue.

Costs and next steps

CPL costs depend on your starting experience, aircraft choice and remaining training. Review current rates on Pricing and contact our team for an individual plan. Do not treat a flight-hour allowance or proposed schedule as a promise of course completion.

Plan beyond the licence

Instrument, multi-engine and instructor training are different next steps, not automatic additions to a CPL. Discuss which pathway is relevant to your intended work and what separate preparation and assessment it involves.

Explore Instrument Rating training

A CPL is not a guarantee of employment. Specific roles can require further ratings, experience and operator requirements. Licence privileges remain subject to the applicable ratings, endorsements, aircraft and operating conditions.

Your questions, answered

Where would I start if I already hold a licence?

Our team reviews your licence, logbook and theory progress before proposing the remaining training. Previous experience should be assessed rather than assumed to match a standard package.

Will the course lead directly to a job?

No employment outcome is promised. Employers and operators set their own requirements, and particular roles may need additional ratings and experience.

Are instrument or multi-engine ratings included?

They are separate training pathways. Contact us to discuss the scope, prerequisites and fees relevant to each one before making a plan.
